Which wall charger in 2025? Which fast USB-C charger will be right for me?

USB-C 20 W chargers with Power Delivery are compact and efficient devices capable of delivering up to 20 W of power. They support charging protocols such as Power Delivery 3.0 (PD 3.0), Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0, and Samsung AFC (Adaptive Fast Charging). As a result, they are compatible with many modern smartphones, including Apple, Samsung, Google, Xiaomi, and Huawei devices. Below, we discuss how they perform with specific phone models.

2025: The latest models compatible with a 20 W USB-C charger with Power Delivery

Apple iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max

The iPhone 15 introduced a transition to the USB-C port, which means direct compatibility with 20 W USB-C chargers with Power Delivery. These phones support the Power Delivery 3.0 protocol, enabling fast charging. The battery can be charged up to about 50% in 30 minutes.

• Compatible protocols: Power Delivery 3.0 (PD 3.0)
• Sample charging times: Up to 50% in 30 minutes.

Fun fact: The iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max with a 40 W power adapter charge to half battery in about 20 minutes.

Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S24 Ultra

Samsung flagship models, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra, support fast charging via the USB-C port. It is worth knowing that Samsung Galaxy phones charge at full speed (Super Fast Charging 25 W) only with a USB PD charger supporting PPS. A 20 W charger without PPS will charge them without any issues, but more slowly.

• Compatible protocols: Samsung AFC, Power Delivery 3.0 (PD 3.0)
• Sample charging times: About 50% in 35-40 minutes (slower than with a 25 W PPS charger).

Fun fact: PPS is an extension of USB PD that allows the phone to adjust the charger voltage in small steps.

Google Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro

The Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro models support the Power Delivery 3.0 charging standard. Google recommends a Google 30 W, 45 W, or 67 W charger or another PPS charger of 30 W or more for Pixels. USB PD chargers from 15 W also work properly, including a 20 W USB-C charger with Power Delivery, although the phone charges at a lower speed.

• Compatible protocols: Power Delivery 3.0 (PD 3.0)
• Sample charging times: Up to 50% in about 35-40 minutes.

2025: Key models compatible with a 20 W USB-C charger with Power Delivery

Apple iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro

The iPhone 14 series supports fast charging based on Power Delivery 3.0. Although these models use a Lightning port, a 20 W USB-C charger with Power Delivery is fully compatible with them using a USB-C to Lightning cable. This ensures fast power top-ups with up to 20 W of power.

• Compatible protocols: Power Delivery 3.0 (PD 3.0)
• Sample charging times: Up to 50% in 30 minutes.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 4

The foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 support Samsung AFC and PD 3.0 technologies. A 20 W USB-C charger with Power Delivery allows for efficient battery recharging, although these phones achieve full charging power with power adapters that support the PPS standard.

• Compatible protocols: Samsung AFC, Power Delivery 3.0 (PD 3.0)
• Sample charging times: Up to 50% in about 35-40 minutes.

Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro

The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro phones support Quick Charge 4.0 and Power Delivery 3.0 technology, ensuring safe charging with a 20 W USB-C charger with Power Delivery. Compared to older power adapters, charging time is noticeably shorter.

• Compatible protocols: Quick Charge 4.0, Power Delivery 3.0 (PD 3.0)
• Sample charging times: About 50% in 30 minutes.

2023: Popular models compatible with a 20 W USB-C charger with Power Delivery

Apple iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro

• Compatible protocols: Power Delivery 3.0 (PD 3.0)
• Sample charging times: Up to 50% in 30 minutes.

Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Ultra
